What is REGEN-1?

This JISC funded project links in to the GMSA Advance (formerly called ModCAT) which will deploy online tools allowing users access to bite-sized flexible learning options from any GMSA partner institution. The Project will re-use and re-purpose learning content from external and internal sources to develop and pilot a level 4 module “Working in Groups” for multi-professional teams working in the field of regional Regeneration.

This is a key element in a cohesive strategy for the collaborative delivery of technology-enhanced work-related and work-based learning throughout Greater Manchester. The modules can be used individually to address immediate work-related learning priorities and/or to assemble a coherent selection of modules that represents an individualised curriculum directed toward the achievement of a recognised higher education qualification.

This network brings together all collaborators, peer evaluators and any other contributors or interested parties in flexible learning options in HE.

I am making good progress although always got the deadline in mind. We have now decided how to present the material and at the moment I am multi-tasking as always!! I am preparing lessons on topics and considering the best use of the material.

It has been extremely difficult to obtain the material with permissions as, although people do want to help they then seem to have difficulty in finding relevant material and if they do are reluctant to let you use it as they don’t always know the… Continue

Researcher - Regen 1 'Working in Groups' Project

I began working on the Regen 1 'Working in Groups' project in November 2008 and immediately conducted a learner needs analysis to to help with the development of the content for the module. The next step has been the most difficult ie to contact people/organisations to see if they would give rights and permissions to use material to support the module. In the first instance the contacts were made by email and I am glad to say with some success. This work is still ongoing.

Emailing… Continue

critical friend review

Hello,

As part of my role as Development Manager - Evaluation and Research at the Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance [GMSA], I am supporting the evaluation of REGEN-1. To date, this has focused on the critical friend review with our group partners - Mosiac and ReCITE. Marion Manton (Mosiac), Tony Toole (ReCITE) and I have been meeting 'virtually' since December 11th to produce our joint 'critical friend' report that was submitted today. The process has been extremely beneficial in… Continue

What is GMSA Advance?

Hello again,

The Level 4 10 credit module 'Working in Groups' developed by the REGEN-1 project will not only go into the GMSA Advance, but also provide a model for other institutions to develop the content of existing modules to support work related learning and flexible delivery methods.

Given this, I thought it would be helpful to give a brief outline of what GMSA Advance intends to do and how higher and further education institutions, employers, learners and other… Continue
